Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I have to be to take the classes?
I work with adults and children age 8 and up. Kids must be able to work independently. I recommend no more than an 1 hour session for children up to 14.
What days and times are classes offered?
Classes are offered in the evening starting at 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and end by 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday classes begin anywhere from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. All weekend classes and end by 12:30 p.m.
When is payment due?
Payment in full is due 1 week prior to the class. If payment is not received, class will be cancelled.
When is your cancellation policy?
Classes can be cancelled up to 72 hours (3 days) prior to your scheduled class for a full refund. No refunds are given for classes cancelled after 72 hours.
Where do I buy supplies?
Supplies for most classes are provided, and are included in the cost. Suggestions on where to purchase supplies for YOUR CHOICE classes will be provided.
What if I'm not ready to buy a sewing machine?
Not a problem, we have a sewing machine we can bring for you to use so you can try it out before investing in equipment.
Do you work with more than one person at a time?
Group lessons in your home are available for up to 3 people. At least 2 must have their own sewing machines. The host must have space large enough to set them all up. Each person must pay for the session individually.
What if I have a group larger than 3?
For larger groups who all have their own sewing machines, please reach out via email to discuss availability.
Can you teach a topic that's not listed in your class options?
Specialty topics are available as a class option. Choose the YOUR CHOICE class when registering. for questions about your topic, please reach out via email. Embroidery classes are not available.
What if I want to work for longer than an hour?
Classes can be scheduled for 1, 2 or 3 hour sessions. No 1/2 hour sessions are available. Some classes must be scheduled for a minimum of 2 hours due to the nature of the subject material. Three hour classes are only available on Saturdays and Sundays.
Do you have clearances to work with children?
I have the standard clearances required to volunteer with youth organizations, as well as clearances to teach in a school. Copies are available upon request.
Do you offer classes for youth organizations such as Scouts and YMCA programs?
I am able to come to your groups meeting and teach HAND SEWING classes for youth organization groups. Sewing machine classes are not available for large groups due to a lack of machines. For more information and pricing, please reach out via email.
